SonicStage is a program developed and distributed by Sony for use on their walkman models. The product is similar in function to iTunes and other available music players and can be used to download and transfer mp3 files onto your walkman. SonicStage can also play a wide variety of audio files on your personal computer, including mp3 and wav. The software differs from other music players given that it is intended for walkman models. SonicStage allows owners of older and specific walkman models, which are notably incompatible with other music software, to properly sync music collections properly onto their devices.
SonicStage is a program that has similar functionality to other available music players and organizers. What sets it apart is its ability to work with and its compatibility with Sony devices. The software.exe installer is lightweight, at only 960.27 Kb or 96 MB. Installing the complete program takes a minimum of 400mb, comparable to iTunes. The latest version of Sonic Stage, 4.3, is compatible with a wide arrangement of Windows operating system, from Windows XP to Windows 10. In addition, the software does not have any restrictions placed on and can be used on Windows 32 bit or 64 bit systems. Finally, the software is also classified as freeware, and as such can be downloaded for free onto any compatible system.
The Sony Connect service was used to purchase recordings online, and could be accessed from within the SonicStage program. However, Sony announced that on 31 March 2008, its CONNECT download site would be going offline, affecting SonicStage users. In late 2008, Sony launched a new online music store called \"bandit.fm\" on a trial basis for a small number of markets. It was expected that Sony would launch bandit.fm globally, however Sony never did this and closed the store in 2016.[3] Japan exclusively uses the mora service, and SonicStage continued to be released for Japanese customers until it was superseded by x-APPLICATION in 2013.[4]
Version 4.3 (called SonicStage CP, for Connect Player) adds Windows Vista compatibility (Vista 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit are not officially supported but Sonicstage will run, though there are no drivers for the hardware). As of October 2008, this is the latest version of the English (and other non-Japanese language) SonicStage. From March 29, 2013 onwards this version is no longer available for download from the Sony website.[9]
Sony released an MP3 Conversion Tool in 2007, which can be used to convert non-DRM protected ATRAC format audio files stored on computers to MP3 format audio files. To run the MP3 Conversion Tool, the OpenMG Secure Module is required (included with SonicStage). The tool can be downloaded from Sony's eSupport page.[28]
I followed this solution & despite downloading the software successfully, when I try to install it I receive an error box which says, \"Data was unable to be retrieved from the server. Please check your Internet connection and try again. (21000)\".

I was unfortunate (or stupid) enough to lose the media software that came with my SO903i phone, which left me without a means of getting my music onto it after a sudden OS reinstall. According to the Sony Ericsson site, Sony SonicStage CP 4.3 now has the drivers built in to handle transferring music to the built in memory or to an external CF card. I hastily went to download the Japanese version of the software, only to get an error:
thanks!i have a american computer and japanese walkman s serise. the problem is i can install the software the walkman came with. and if i install a english version of sonic stage all the japanese songs come up like how do i fix this!! but on windows media the japanese songs come out perfectly. mybe theres a way to input music in to my walkman from windows media!if you can help it would be a lot of help 153554b96e
